Welcome

When it comes to technology--at least some kinds of technology--I've always considered myself an "early adopter." I started using Macs in 1985 just a year after its introduction and way before it was taken seriously, at least in the corporate world. I bought my first Palm Pilot just a few months after that product was introduced and used one faithfully until my Blackberry took over its pocket space.

I am a bit slow, however, jumping onto the blogging bandwagon.

But with my children leading the way, I think it's about time.

This is family blog. By that I mean it will be written and shared primarily--even exclusively--with family members, and immediate family members at that--my children, my grandchildren, maybe my parents and siblings.

I plan on sharing news, family developments, maybe some family history (mostly mine) and some random thoughts about forming and raising a traditional family in this world that seems to be moving in a different direction.

Speaking of forming families... the main event this week for all of us is the marriage of Spencer and Anna on Friday. It will be a great and fun time and we are looking forward to it with great anticipation. It is, after all, the continuation of the Hansen line. And while all my children are equally important and loved, Spencer and Anna's union is the first to carry on the Hansen lineage. And that includes, of course, all the grandchildren of Kimball and Maurine Hansen.

So, congratulations to Spencer and Anna, welcome, Anna, to the family and may we all travel safely and securely to and from this great celebration.

Tot Ziens.

dad&mom
you can set your blog so that only the people you want - can come and see it - so no one can just google it from somewhere and get on to read or comment. anyway when are you guys driving up and will you be staying with us? please do - just wanting to get sleeping arrangements down.

Someday in the future do you think school kids in elementary will have writing assignments on blogs? We had this old man, Grandpa's age, talking about extraction last night and I thought of the obstacle he overcame to learn the new computer language. Now that it's ingrained in kids from development, it will be fun to see where digital records take us. Still can't write my journal on a computer yet though. The pen is pretty mighty.
Hope your B-day went well Whit. Sorry I didn't get a hold of you. Love you all and thanks for the sacrifice to travel to the wedding. I've learned a lot by watching you Whitney, Rachel, Erin, and Sally, and of course Mom and Dad. You'll have a complete curriculum when it's your turn Jake.

way cool that you have a blog too pops. you'll have to teach mom how to log on though, she seems to have problems with that.
